Here's a rare shot of the south side of the Kenai Peninsula all the way to Gore Pt. This is very remote country and difficult to get to because of the weather. I found this amazing basin in Granite Island. The scenery was unbelievable. The entrance is only 30ft wide but was 14ft deep at low tide on the north side. I went ashore and scrambled up the rocks. It would be difficult to camp here but very rewarding if you could do it. Some day I hope to return. The rocks are very slippery at low tide. I did not see any way for a kayak to come ashore. On the way home I passed an Orca heading off into the sunset. He was not bothered at all by my presence and I was careful not to harass him. It was a fitting end to a wonderful adventure. The End |
