Katmai National Park, Art Wolfe
Workshop
This year my photo club planned a workshop with Art Wolfe at Brooks River in Katmai National Park. It was a great success and a dream come true for all of us who attended. There were plenty of bears to photograph. Brooks River is world famous for it's Summer population of Brown Bears, one of the largest in the world. There are so many bears near the Falls they often compete for space. This Sow on the left attacked this Boar twice her size for more fishing room. The two cubs watched Mom in amazement. The bears are very good fishermen and get fat each summer on Sockeye Salmon. The bears weren't the only fishermen. Here's Paul landing a nice Rainbow. I had fun catching Char with egg patterns. I landed 17 fish in a couple hours and had many more on that day. The bears often walk along Naknek Lake to access the River.
