Shrode Lake Cabin Ski Trip
In the afternoon I toured to the lagoon at Long Bay while Todd climbed for some turns. I thought about crossing the stream but the snow on the banks was 12 ft thick. The ski to Long Bay was more difficult than I expected. There was much avalanche debris and broken trees. The lagoon however was free of ice. Normally this time of year it's frozen solid. The temperature reached 80 degrees F in the shade. It was much too hot for my taste but Todd enjoyed it. The log entry indicated we were the only visitors since September. My guess is the lake only recently froze due to the mild winter. There was a sign on the oil stove which said it did not work Fortunately the sun warmed the cabin to an ok temperature. We were wondering if Brad would ever show up. I figured he gave up on the lake crossing but he surprised us with a late night arrival. It was great to see his safe arrival and his dog Jacks. After a lazy morning we cross the lake to explore the hills to the North.
