Upper Russian Lake Fishing Trip, June 2006
This Porcupine was a real Hell Raiser. He ate my leather hiking boots and chair. One night he climbed the roof of our cabin. On another occasion he scared off a Black Bear which wandered into camp. I almost stepped on him twice so I learned to look down when walking around the cabin. I do not recommend bringing dogs to the this cabin. The start of the Russian River is about 100 yards from the cabin. It's an easy hike to some good fishing. Paul caught a nice Rainbow here. Colleen and I didn't have much luck. It's a beautiful river but with Bears everywhere I opted to spend most of my time on the lake. The Russian Lakes trail passes through an enchanted forest of tall Cottonwood trees. Hiking is very easy.
